Common questions
How many Franciscan colleges are there in the United States?
The Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities lists 21 U.S. colleges that appear in federal college data (official list, checked Oct. 8, 2026). Colleges founded by the Franciscan tradition but not on this list are not shown.
Which Franciscan colleges are Compass Recommended?
Saint Francis University, Franciscan University of Steubenville, University of Saint Francis-Fort Wayne. Recommended means a Faith score of 80 or more with no weak pillar, and a Compass Score of 80 or more where academic data exists (how it works).
How are these colleges rated?
Each faith scorecard is built from the college’s own official pages (Mass and confession schedules, required theology, campus ministry, service) and every claim links to its source. Academic Excellence uses federal data. Belonging to a tradition does not affect the grades. See the methodology.
